This month we have some rare 1/64 IH toys for you that most collectors have not scene.   The two models in this months "Things That Used To Be" are from the collection of Jason Dalton an avid 1/64 variation collector.  Jason contributed an article on CaseIH Fall Farm Show Editions in this months TTT.

Jason purchased this IH Transtar II truck set a few years ago.  He thought it was just a set a collector put together using the original IH 1466 toy tractors.  The interesting thing is that the tractors were attached to the trailer by perfectly pressed wires which are visible in the picture above.  After the purchase of the set Jason won the box for the set at an auction.  After winning the box Jason realized his set did indeed come from Ertl.  How many were made is unknown.  The Transtar II trucks were first released in 1978.  This is the year that the second generation of 1/64 tractors were released by Ertl including the IH 1086. Maybe Ertl was trying to use up the 1466 models with a truck set?

Jason submitted pictures of an IH Tanstar II with a van trailer by Ertl for comparison to the tractor set.  We can see it comes in the same style box with a red truck on the back and a light blue toy inside.  If you have ever come across the trctor set or have one in your collection please contact The Toy Tractor Times so that we can share additional information on.

In 1985  as IH and J.I. Case joined forces the 1/64 toy world was changing.   Ertl was started offering a wide array of 1/64 implements for the first time including corn planters, forage harvesters,  grain augers, sprayers, grain carts, machine trailers, lime spreaders, box manure spreaders and  liquid manure spreaders.   IH released a 4 row corn planter just before the CaseIH merger.   The other equipment options were released in 1986 under the Case International name.  Jason Dalton has a rare IH sprayer in his collection.  It is new in the package which helps preserve its originality and it has a large IH emblem on the tank.  Jason has seen one other IH sprayer NIB sell for $100.  Most likely this piece was caught in the merger and canceled.
