AGCO's New Challengers

by Gordy Schultz

In days gone, going to the county  fair often meet big exhibits of new equipment from local machinery dealers.  You would go out to the fair to ride the rides, watch the tractor pull, view the animal exhibits and check out the latest and greatest farm equipment.  It was a good break from farm work and a chance to sit in the seat of a new tractor, look over a new combine or check out  a new piece of equipment.  Often your local dealer would send you home with a piece of sales literature to look over.

With less farms and fewer tractor dealers it seems that the county fair has become a less popular venue for showing off new equipment. In my area a local dealer will park a few new items on the fair grounds near the tractor pull or antique tractors but there are no booths or sales people.  Summer and Fall Farm Shows have replaced the local fair as a place for farmers from several states to gather and view new equipment.  In the September issue we will talk more about these shows.

For this issue I thought it would fun to highlight some of the new literature from AGCO Challenger that you may find at a fair or summer farm show if there is a Challenger display.  These new AGCO brochures are very nice. You almost feel like you are looking through a Lexus or Mercedes brochure. The Challenger brochures are each about 20 pages, printed on thick stock paper and show quite a few pictures of the products.  The brochures high quality may be linked to the fact they are distributed by Caterpillar dealers who sell millions of dollars of construction equipment.
