Orlund Farms, the largest potato farm on the display, grows about 3100 acres of potatoes, most which are “chipping potatoes” for Frito Lay.

The first thing Orlund’s do in the potato planting tasks, is disk in the cover crop of rye with a blue Buhler Versatile 2425 pulling a 41ft. Krause disk.

After the rye is disked under, the Ford 976 and 28ft. Krause 4821 coulter chisel goes through to bury any trash.

Next the two late model MF 8270s with their 12 row Sukup hillers will mark out the rows ahead of the potato planters, while side dressing liquid fertilizer. Each 8270 has the AutoFarm guidance system installed for making straight rows.
